God’s Green Season – Staying Connected

Summer is a time for family vacations. It’s also a time of year when church attendance tends to decline. With AAA predicting that more than 35% of Americans plan to take a family vacation this year, we’re likely to see fewer faces in church over the next few months. Since we can’t rely on meeting as many of our friends in the pews on Sunday mornings, connecting with our fellow congregation members during the summer will be a bit more challenging. While this may feel discouraging, there are ways to stay connected even as people are traveling this summer.

Remember “Flat Marty?” A few years ago, we printed black and white drawings of Martin Luther for people to cut out and color. They would take the drawings with them on their vacations and take photos with their families with Flat Marty and send them back to St. Andrew to connect with the rest of us back here.

This year we are bringing back Flat Marty. Print and color Flat Marty, take him with you when you travel, take a selfie with him and your family, and email it to Steve Christiansen (steveshome@comcast.net) with a short caption such as, “At Lincoln City.”

Photos that you email may be posted to the page below. This is a public web site, and we are aware of privacy concerns, so please do not feel obligated to email photos if you are concerned about privacy issues.
